Here are some of our most FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS about pricing and performance.
PERFORMANCE
- Why do your engines run so well? Well after 25 years of working with aircooled engines you learn what they can and cant do. I have learned what works and I optimize it. Everytime the engine heats up, the check relief "plunger" moves down; opening a valve but scraping the case at the same time. I replace the "plunger" with a ball and insert. This does a few things: it slows the oil going through the oil cooler allowing it to cool more, allows you to maintain perfect oil pressure control, and makes the valve open (when reaching high oil pressure) without scraping the case; saving you from premature failure do to internal oil leaks. This is why our engines last twice as long. We have designed a kit, in leu of the procedure, which can be bought for $150.
- Do you have anything to show me for quality of work? Yes. Look in the SCRAPBOOK for past jobs I've done.
- What are "gussets"? "Gussets" are metal reinforcements welded onto the engine case to maintain engine support while being jostled (shaken) around. Recommended on off road engines.
PRICING
- Why should I buy an engine from you instead of the guy whose engines are cheaper? Well in today's day and age, you definitely get what you pay for. I'm not saying anything bad about the other guys' engines, but I am saying that I put more quality and care into my work and I guarantee that. I wouldn't be called Headflow Master without being able to back it up.
- What if I dont have a core to exchange? This is not a problem. Buy a reconditioned case for $300 or a NEW case for $500 + engine price.
- What if I am not in your area? We are able to ship for an additional shipping fee.
- What's the difference between cams over 5500rpm and cams under 5500rpm? Cams over 5500rpm require dual springs and chromoly pushrods.
- Why is there a price difference in porting and polishing? We modify the heads when they come from the factory. The price for that is incurred in the price of the longblock. If you bring in just the head there is labor that we must account for.
